1986 Bob Brenly of San Francisco tied a MLB record with four errors in one inning, but atoned with two homers, including the game-winner, to give the Giants a 7-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Brenly, normally a catcher, was playing third base.

Norm Sherry, a replacement catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, hit a home run in the 11th inning to give his brother, relief pitcher Larry Sherry, a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Los Angeles.

Kansas City’s backstop, John Wathan, steals his 31st base of the season in a 5-3 win over the Rangers, breaking the single-season record for catchers set by Hall of Famer Ray Schalk in 1916. Wathan will finish the season with a career-high 36 stolen bases.
